macrobert youth groups

It’s that time of the year again! The summer holidays are over and the schools are about to start their first week back. The kids are thinking the fun is over yeah? Wrong! As our youth groups start back up again this week.

Come and experience the inspiration and power of the arts; kids can develop skills in dance, drama and filmmaking. All of our creative classes are led by our resident professionals and most classes have the option of performing live at the macrobert each spring.

Kids can join streetdance; where you can try out complicated routines, tricks and freezes – all with an urban flava’! Or how  about a bit of youth theatre where you can collaboratively work through theatre games, improvisation, role play, characters, voice, movement and text. Although, if behind the scenes is more your thing then the macrobert Young Film Crew is a hands on class where you can explore film making techniques and gain a valuable insight into the world of making movies.

These are just a small selection of youth groups available at macrobert and no matter what class you join you are sure to make lots of friends, build your confidence and develop your performance skills. So sign up now and let your imagination and creativity flow!

For more information on the youth groups available, times and age of classes and cost please contact Helen Doherty on 01786 467152 or email The next term will start 13th September 2010.

Febfest Rehearsals

The works of William Shakespeare are providing a great source of inspiration for this year’s FebFest, macrobert’s annual festival of work by our in house youth groups. 8 of our drama and dance groups are hard at work creating performances for February, including full productions of 2 of Shakespeare’s plays and a number of new pieces inspired by Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, The Tempest and even Titus Andronicus! We’re even going to have a late night cabaret with songs from the Bard on Broadway!
