Nanny Mcphee

Nanny McPhee & the Big Bang

Susanna White

Nanny McPhee (Thompson) arrives to help a harried young mother (Gyllenhaal) who is trying to run the family farm while her husband is away at war, though she uses her magic to teach the woman’s children and their two spoiled cousins’ five new lessons.

  • Emma Thompson chose not to play Professor Trelawney again in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II (2011), due to her duties as writer and producer of this film. Her cast mates, Ralph Fiennes, Rhys Ifans and Maggie Smith appear in both films.
  • The motorcycle to which the sidecar is attached is an 350cc Ariel W/NG used by British Commonwealth forces during WW2.
  • Make-up designer Peter King designed the final look of the main character at the first attempt – a rare occasion for makeup designers as they would design many make-ups before the selection.
